Back in Action!

Hello Friends! This will be one of my longer posts. Don’t panic, its an easy read!

QUICK THANKSGIVING RECAP..Turkey day with the Fam is always amazing. Cooking with my mom, quality time dad and my oldest brother (my other brother had to work), turkey crafts, and delicious food. It’s pretty obvious below that it’s one of my favorite holidays!Turkey

I have to apologize that I haven’t blogged in a while. I have to be honest here. As you know I had some kind of knee injury and was limited in the fitness department. This limitation hit me hard… not being able to train or even know how to get better was difficult for me and I was afraid to blog! BUT there comes some news! The doctor said that I have sprained MCL (medial collateral ligament).

mclBasically, it’s located on the  inner side of the knee-joint and connects the thigh bone and the shin bone. The MCL’s main function is to prevent the leg from extending too far inward, but it also helps keep the knee stable. Sadly, this means NO LEG WORK OR CARDIO! 😦  For now anyway…

The GOOD NEWS. I start Physical Therapy Wednesday and can train some upper body. It’s also a fairly common injury that if treated, may not need surgery..HOORAY!!

So I  need to accept that my  body may change, my goals may have to change, and my attitude definitely needs to change. I need to push myself to look on the positive side and work with what I got! To help me in this area I’ve got a few ideas:

1. I’m participating in the 2nd round of the Elf for Health challenge. Lindsay who is awesome encouraged me to join, saying that the injury wouldn’t hold me back from all daily challenges. YOU ROCK LADY!

2. I’ve joined a Move More challenge. I want to be inspired by others working out and know that just because I can’t do what I’m used to …doesn’t mean I can’t do anything!

3. And finally, my most crucial tool and supporter is my boyfriend. He is a fitness buff/ firefighter who has been through a few injuries and has overcome physically and mentally. He is my rock and I am impressed with him on a daily basis. He has wonderful positive talk and loves to keep a smile on my face. Thanks BF! (old photo of Tiago picking me up when I’m down) 🙂

What kind of exercises have you done when injured?
How did you stay positive?
